NaNoWriMo 20,000 and Counting

Week two of NaNoWriMo has been quite a bit more productive for me than week one. I was out of the gates quickly but very busy at work and I put everything on hold for three days. I then resumed writing last Sunday and pumped out some serious numbers. Then I took another couple days off putting my story together in my mind. This week has actually been a double challenge, I have my son and have found myself needing to wait until he lays down for the night to do the bulk of my writing.

Last night I passed 20,000 words and I have yet to drop the sub-plot bombshell that is going to carry me through. I must say, that during the past couple weeks I find myself chuckling to myself. This is partially because I have become slightly mad by this point. But also because I have really let myself go and am amazed at the items I have come up with to write about. The story turn I am about to execute and have been playing out in my head all day long I did not even see coming when I first started my novel. I had no idea how I would have to grasp and search through the history of my story to come up with 50,000 words.

Before anyone starts wondering about the novel, rest assured, it is bad. But I have come to the realization that you simply have to learn not to take yourself too seriously. When this is all over and I start editing the novel, I really need to find a grammar reference. Never-the-less, I have already written more in the past two weeks than I probably have at any one time during my lifetime. I will be taking pre-orders in December. ;)

What is this?
I can certainly help proofread, unless that's against the spirit of the effort.

What is this?
It is not against the effort, once the effort is complete. Initially, during the actual effort there is to be no proofreading, just lots and lots of writing.

I am amazed at my loss of grammar knowledge since I wrote papers for college. I thought I would never forget the way some of the rules were drilled into me, I thought wrong. I need to read more fiction and less technology books before attempting this again.

I may take you up on this offer once the month is over and I have had an opportunity to clean up some of the mess. I am amazed, you almost seem eager to read this. Three other league participants have expressed similar interest, I was asked Tuesday or Wednesday whether any of this could be read. Sorry, not yet except for a small excerpt but I am keeping that private for now too, unless you figure it out on your own.

I have Skype up and running and I added you to my contacts. I have a crappy microphone though so I am wondering how it will sound if we try Podcasting.

What is this?
Unless the Outlets are at least in the playoffs, I don't want to read it. ;)

I see you in Skype, I just need to set up a time to test recording with you and come up with a good agenda for the BD podcast. We could just wing it if you want. I'm thinking Thursdays would make a good NFL analysis day.

Well, then you need to go on a win streak, the story goes along with this season. But the novel is much more than just the football, even though I did not originally intend it to be.

I agree Thursday would be a good day. This coming Thursday I am tentatively scheduled for tennis until 9:30pm. But if you were interested in getting started this week I could reschedule.

We probably should have a few items that we plan to talk about prior. Just so we each kind of have an idea where we are going for the broadcast.
